A meaningful difference
My partner went through a breast cancer journey a few years ago and it really shook up our family. It was really hard some days and we had to pull together, be honest with the kids, and work through it. We had never dealt with cancer before so had to educate ourselves fast along with those around us. We learned to depend on the comfort of friends and family from close and afar, something we had rarely done in the past. People aren’t very good at asking for help, yet often that’s exactly what they need. So many families get hit by a challenge that comes from left field and it’s important for all of us to pull together because this is the magic ingredient that makes such a big difference. This journey was the inspiration for our passion project to help other individuals in a simple yet meaningful way.
The LUCI Treatment Gift Pack was born from a similar pack given to my partner by a friend that had also been through a breast cancer experience. She was happy to pay it forward and put together a collection of carefully selected items before she started her treatment. These were things she herself had used or needed on her own journey so she knew they would be helpful. The pack is called Luci - L.ove U.nlocks C.onnection I.nstantly - because these were the 2 main things that made all the difference to our family’s journey. Lately, there’s been talk about the biggest contributors to death on a global basis. It’s not cancer, heart disease or strokes, it’s isolation - people being left alone and not being surrounded by love and connection. It’s easy to make a difference for even one person and hardly takes any effort at all.
