How Does Low Blood Sugar FEEL?

Rob-insulin-pump.jpg

I thought it would be interesting to do a post about my thoughts and feelings while I was actually having a low blood sugar episode. This was not at all surprising but did give me some interesting insights to see what my state of mind was.

Over it
Hungry
Tired
Confused
Wanting to give up
Angry
Exhausted
Low
Wobbly
Craving sweet things
Desperation
Sweating
Wandering
Sad

Once my BGLs went up from 2.2mmoL to 3.5mmoL I started to feel a lot calmer. Eventually I felt as though I was getting my senses back to some form of normality. I still wanted to keep eating sweet things although from experience I know I need to be careful as I don’t have too much to push my BGLs too high again. Once back to a regular BGL I was feeling cold from sweating.

I imagine this is how a lot of diabetics feel so wanted to share the good, bad and ugly. Hopefully we can educate people to help them understand the extreme highs and lows that go so much deeper than the physical symptoms. I always get so angry at myself and my inability to prevent lows and it’s good to know this is a chemical thing. I need to be kinder to myself but it is an emotional roller coaster! How do you feel?
